OUT OF TRUE

June 2019/KHR038

"This EP features four songs that make you want to lean in and either clap or sing along. Though I felt drawn in within seconds of the opener 'When You Get There (It's Gone),' I can't help but feel that the fourth and final entry, 'Well Bred Gentlemen,' really put the hooks in me. Overall, it's just good to hear from a band that not only survived the 90's, but lived on to strive in the Aughts (or whatever we're calling this decade). -- Jersey Beat (7-8-19)

AMBER GLASS HIGH

December 2013/KHR018

"Kearny's TV Sound is back more than a decade after their debut album influenced some of Hudson County's biggest rock names...'Get Your Gear On' grabs you immediately, is infectious and exciting...'Mean Hard Times' just crashes in and demands to be heard, and the title track shows some bluesy muscle...the band has never sounded better." -- nj.com (12-13-13)

POP PERSECUTION

March 2021/KHR043

This sonic tour de force "kicks off with the raucous 'Let Me Sing You Back Down' with echoes of 1960s mods like the Who and Small Faces, then gives way to the wistful 'I'm Not Young Anymore'....'Mods and Rockers' has a combustible intensity....'Ain't Hard to Find' skirts the border between punk and new wave with a memorable guitar solo...Highly recommended." -- nj.com (3-24-21)

TELECOMMANDO

November 2016/KHR031

From the tongue-in-cheek rocker "Klaus Kinski" to the deliriously anthemic "Memory Never Forgets," from the power-pop rave-up "Did It All Wrong" to the hard-driving title track, the seven stellar tunes on this EP showcase tv sound's musical and lyrical depth and intensity, all capped off with a powerful live cut of "From Here to Nevermore," recorded at legendary rock club Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ, on a glorious night of maximum rock and roll.

RECORD JACKET LIFE

June 1999/KHR011

Upon its release in 1999, Record Jacket Life sounded like it came out of nowhere, but anyone who had caught tv sound's early shows instantly recognized the band's trademark energy and intelligence. Receiving immediate airplay on legendary Jersey indie station WFMU, the sixteen original songs on RJL established the band as a force in the NJ/NYC music scene, gaining them attention from such garage band connoisseurs as Little Steven Van Zant and Matt Pinfield, and loyal listeners from Newark to New Zealand.

MOVIES, COMPILATIONS, ETC.

LITTLE STEVEN'S GARAGE ROCK INVASION

The E Street Band's Little Steven Van Zandt and MTV's Matt Pinfield selected tv sound's "End of the Arrogance" (from the Record Jacket Life LP) for this collection of 20 modern garage rock gems from bands across the USA and beyond. In the liner notes, Little Steven writes of the tv sound staple: "a classic garage vocal a la Van Morrison after Shadows of Night leading an energy boost that serves as a wake-up call for the post-punk doldrums." No wonder that "Arrogance" has been a crowd favorite and a live set mainstay all these years!

HAROLD THE MOVIE

Upon hearing "Turnaround," the opening track of Record Jacket Life, writer/director T. Sean Shannon (Saturday Night Live, The Aristocrats) decided to feature the song in this comedy starring Spencer Breslin, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Ally Sheedy, Nikki Blonsky, and Colin Quinn. Look for the scene where Breslin and Blonsky share an intense ride on a souped-up four-wheeled Rascal! The sidewalks of suburbia will never be the same...

SOCCERTOWN USA

Tv sound were also proud to contribute "Turnaround" (from RJL) to the score of this acclaimed documentary about the band's blue-collar hometown, Kearny, NJ, and the three young soccer players from Kearny that starred for the US Men's National Team in the 1990 World Cup. A fitting tribute to the town that inspired both the band's songwriting and its original army of fans.

KILLING HORSE RECORDS 2014 SAMPLER

Listening to this 16-song collection of tunes from the KHR stable of artists is like sampling treats from a Venetian table for the music gods. Two tv sound hits - "Get Your Gear On" and "Sunshower Deconstruction" - grace this all-star gathering of long shot luminaries. Rock is dead, they say -- but long live Killing Horse Records!
